new meals and new schedule

(9m 3d)
Noah's 9 month check up went great! The day before his 9th month bday, I saw a little white dot poking through on the bottom left tooth in his mouth! We also stopped nursing the day he turned 9 months, I am so proud that I was able to nurse him until he was 9 months!

Noah started 3 meals a day yesterday and it went well! I have also been introducing new textures and tastes. So far he has had cottage cheese and apple sauce mixed together, little pastinas with a little bit of sauce, yogurt mixed with applesauce and bannana chunks and of course cheerios. He seems to be doing very well and got the pediatricians approval to begin.

We are trying him on a consistant schedule. He has 4 bottles (8, 12, 4, 8), 3 meals (9a, 1p, 5p), and 2 naps, (10 and 2pm). so far it is going well. I know things happen such as gymboree and play dates that will disrupt it. The days that I work the night before are a little hard as he is up at 530am to go to nana's, so that throws off his schedule a bit. But he is so easy going and flexible, it seems to be ok with him.

I called to schedule his first haircut for 10/11. His bangs are long and he has hair growing over his ears. Joe will be getting a haircut, too, so hopefully noah will see daddy and be ok with getting one himself!

almost off the boob...

(8m 25d)
I can't believe noah is almost 9 months old! He says mamma, dadda and baba (bottle).

Noah is just about weaned from the breast, sadly to say. He'll probably nurse one more week and will be done. 9 months has been wonderful and I am delighted that I have been able to give him breast milk. It has been such a special time and I will greatly miss it. But, he is so active and always wants to get down and play.. there are times he actually shakes his head no at me when I go to nurse him! What a kid!

He still has no teeth.. I guess Joe was a late teether, too, according to his mom.

Noah can get up on all 4's and rock back and forth, but no crawling has happened yet. He can pull himself up on his boucer to get the buckle and on the outside of his exersaucer, two unsafe things!

He loves the dogs, and laughs so hard when they bark and play!

We started giving Noah different food textures, like small chuncks of banana, cottage cheese and coarsely ground steamed broccoli. We see the pedi on monday, and will ask if he can have cheerios and the like, since he has no teeth.

3rd cold

(8m 15d)
Today Noah went from a sitting up position down to the floor, onto his belly. This is a big step for him and he did it perposefully, not falling down. And also today, he attempted to feed himself with a spoon! He actually did very well. He has great aim and coordination! It was all an accident, I gave him a baby spoon to play with while I was feeding him breakfast, because he kept trying to grab his spoon. He just started sticking the play spoon into his mouth! So I would dip it into his food and he'd feed himself! He was a huge mess, but who cares? He was having fun!

He has his 3rd cold sadly...He got it from the nursery at church. What can you do? At least he is in play groups and interacting with other children, and unfortunately, those are the consequences!

great grandma

(8m 6d)
I can't believe how fast he is growing! His great grandmother is up from Florida and he has been seeing her a lot. She loves him, and says, "Give me my pumpkin!" every time she sees him.

Noah is saying "Dadda" now, started about 2 weeks ago.

He might be teething now finally. He is waking up at night and not taking much of a bottle during the day. He only nurses well in the morning.

We offered him a sippy cup on his 8 month bday. He mostly just plays with it, banging it around.

We are sad to be closing the pool already, especially since noah loved it so much. maybe I'll take him to the ymca this winter to swim.

No real signs of crawling yet. He'll lay on his belly and put his butt up in the air or get on his knees for a few seconds.

He had his consultation today at the pediatric urologists for his circ. It will be done later this year.

seven months

Noah has grown so much over the past two months. He is rolling all over the place and doing pretty well sitting up now. He definitely prefers to stand and locks his knees when you go to place him in a sitting position!

His hair is getting so long on top, sticks up like duck fur! I can't believe how blond he is!

He started saying mama! I think it was around July 24th for sure, but a few days prior we thought we heard some mama's...now we are working on dada!

He loves to touch my face when nursing and stick his fingers in my mouth, which I find to be darling!

He is still going to gymboree once a week, and really having a ball! In September, he starts a music class in Southington. That should be a lot of fun!

For the longest time, we have been placing our finger in front of his lips and wiggle it up and down and he makes a funny sound (hard to describe.) But the funny thing is that he now does it himself! With his left hand, wondering if he will be a lefty?

He is eating two meals a day, still breastfeeding and taking a few 6-8 oz bottles of half br milk and formula. He sleeps well through the night, all though Joe says he wakes up a few times the nights I am at work.

He loves his exersaucer and jumper that we hang from the door jam. He certainly knows how to have a good time!

Life has just been so amazing with him, we are so blessed!

Father's day!

(5m 2w)
Today is Father's day! Noah went in the pool for the first time and he loved it! I knew he would, he loves his baths so much. He did so well in his baby float. Emma went in the pool for her first time, too. She did not enjoy it as much, but she still had some fun.

Noah joined the local gymboree class one day a week for activities such as group playing and singing with other moms and kids. I met a bunch of other moms, too. It is so nice to be with other moms and their babies watching the kids play together! Next week we are going to Boston, we'll see how Noah does with traveling and sleeping in a foreign place.

Noah is rolling very well from his back to his belly, but no desire to roll the other way. He is sitting up--tripoding as they call it, balancing with his hands on the floor, between his legs. He is eating cereal and fruit every day and doing quite well! We will be starting vegetables soon.

(5m 3w)
He is changing so much and doing so many new things! Yesterday, Joe discovered if you hold Noah by his hands, he will pull himself up to a standing position! Last night, he decided to sleep on his belly for the first time. And today, he showed me how he can take his pacifier out of his mouth and put it back in; such great fine motor control he has over his hands! This morning he was on his belly and pushed himself up on his arms, with straight locking elbows! And each day, he gets better at sitting up by himself! So many firsts are happening!

rolling over!

5m 4d)
Noah rolled over for the first time today! He has been working on it for a few weeks, and today, he was on his back and he rolled over to his belly! He did it 4 more times, and it was so great to see!

We have been working on him sitting up on his own and last night he did it! He ended up slumping forward all the way and started playing with his toes, but before that, he balanced well and stayed there for a few minutes!

Another neat thing that Noah is doing... he turns on his fisher-price aquarium in his crib. He wakes up in the morning and finds the button (a big blue clam shell) and turns it on and off, on and off, it is funny to hear! That is how he wakes us up, we hear Brahms lullaby playing and then noah starts spinning a rolling toy in the aquarium. He is so funny, just keeping himself entertained while we wake up!

He has been having cereal every day now since the 2nd, and enjoying it! Pretty soon we will move on to pureed fresh fruits and veggies. Joe and I want to try making his foods for him, I hope he enjoys those!
